Role

We are the team behind Sutro, a high-throughput inference service and Python SDK built for unstructured data processing and generation use-cases: think synthetic data generation, structured extraction, semantic tagging, evals, classification, and more.

We are seeking a developer experience engineer to join a small, mighty team working at the forefront of large-scale inference technology. You will be responsible for building, extending and improving our user interfaces as well as educating and growing the developer community around our products.

Examples of projects you might work on:

• Extending, improving, and simplifying our open-source Python SDK.
• Writing technical guides, blogs, open-source examples, and documentation to educate the developer community.
• Cultivating the community around Sutro - growing our open-source presence, hosting events, and meetups.
• Working hands-on with customers as they adopt and scale usage with Sutro.

You’ll be a good fit if:

• You’re very technically curious, and have experience or interest in AI infrastructure or open-source technologies - and have demonstrated experience in such areas (professional, academic, or personal).
• You learn fast and take ownership.
• You want the ceiling raised on your own technical capabilities.
• You think from first principles, and question default “expert” opinions.
• You want to ship important, well-crafted products, and have a bias towards building.
• You are a kind, honest, and positive-sum person ready to have fun and learn a ton along the way.

Other

Compensation: $135,000-$180,000 base salary, high target equity, other benefits to be discussed.

Location: SF Bay Area or willing to move. Exceptions may be made in rare cases.
